LAND TRAILS
Milton Heritage Greenway & Walking Trail

Starting at the Libery St. parking lot or Milton 66 Beer Company to stroll on the Milton Heritage Greenway & Walking Trail. It winds through Milton’s historic warehouse district, offering a glimpse into the town’s past as a bustling port. This well-maintained pedestrian path follows old wagon roads and includes historical markers highlighting former commercial sites. Visitors can learn about Milton’s tobacco industry and its role in regional trade while enjoying a peaceful stroll. Keep an eye out for seasonal events, like the Spooky Trail Walk. Learn more here.

Caswell County Park & Recreation Track

Take a lap around the ball fields and tennis courts on this paved track. If you are lucky, you might get to catch a game!

Orchard Lake Trail / Senior Center Trail / Yoder's Trail

90 County Home Rd. Yanceyville, 27379
The Orchard Lake Trail to Stream-Walk Trail combines to about 3 miles of walking and biking trails. This trail connects Yoder’s Country Market for a wooded stroll, over to the Flying Disc Clubhouse with views of their disc golf course by the lake, all the way to the Caswell County Senior Center with peaceful, quiet trails. Don’t forget to grab a sandwich or a sweet treat from Yoder’s Country Market on your way home!

Caswell Community Arboretum

Nestled in the heart of Yanceyville’s Historic District, the Caswell Community Arboretum offers a peaceful retreat filled with native plantings and rich history. This ½-mile paved trail winds past the restored Poteat Schoolhouse, the old Caswell County Jail, and through themed gardens, including a butterfly garden and an evergreen grove. Once an overgrown dumping ground, the arboretum has been transformed into a thriving sanctuary for wildlife, attracting songbirds, butterflies, and even the occasional deer. Benches along the way invite you to pause and take in the beauty, while a rustic shelter provides a shady spot to rest. Maude Gatewood Trail

This half-mile paved trail is, perfect for a daily stroll. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic at the covered shelter or relax at the picnic tables. Conveniently located just past the SECU, Firetower Road is on the right. Visit Caswell Counties Parks and Rec page here for more info.
- Accessibility: Wide and flat paved surface. Start right for fewer hills, start left for the story walk.
Sunline Trail

This set of trails consists of three loops. This trail provides a great space for the volunteers for the APS to walk the rescue dogs. The Sunline Trail is a unique style of trail with three “lollipop” style loops. In spring of 2025, the trail near the animal shelter was upgraded with mulch and rock lined by a local scout as part of his Eagle Scout project!

- Caswell County Animal Protection Society (APS) 836 County Home Rd, Yanceyville, NC 27379 | When you arrive, walk behind the animal shelter to find the trailhead.
- Parking is available at the end of Sunline Drive, off of Fire Tower Road. When you arrive, continue on the paved cult-de-sac and onto the gravel road until it turns into a gravel loop at the trailhead.

Farmer Lake Trail

This trail follows along the edge of the lake, then creates a small loop in the woods. This results in a lolipop style route. Learn more about open hours and paddle fees here at the Farmer Lake website.

PADDLE ACCESSES
Milton Boating Access on Dan River

Large parking area and concrete boat ramp. The next take out is on river. Next Access: River left, 5 miles to Leggetts Bottom Access; 11 miles to Paces. Check Dan River Basin Association for all up to date information.
Farmer Lake Paddle Access - Fee Required

Paddle this 365 acre lake just outside of Yanceyville! This is a popular spot for fishermen and boaters. This tranquil lake is sure to provide a relaxing experience exploring nature.
