The Townsend Trail is a moderate hike, tracing the southern edge of Lake Townsend where you can see native flora and fauna. Dress accordingly and pack a snack for this hike. It’s one of the longest hiking only trails in the Watershed Trails System. The trail is the easternmost segment of the North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail that falls within the Watershed Trail System. The Townsend Trail is sponsored by the local chapter of the Sierra Club.
